Officers found a stolen motorbike during their Operation Oarlock patrols on Saturday (11 May).
The Welwyn Hatfield Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) discovered the bike abandoned in a block of a garages in Aldykes. It had been stolen from Borehamwood earlier that day and the victim contacted the police to inform them that it’s tracker was pinging in Hatfield.
Operation Oarlock is dedicated to tackling anti-social behaviour, drugs and vehicle theft in hotspot locations in Hatfield. It forms part of the wider ‘Safer Streets’* multi-agency response to improving safety in the area.
PC Anne Lopez, from the Welwyn Hatfield NPT, said: “We’re pleased to have been able to reunite the victim with their motorbike. Enquiries remain ongoing to find the suspect(s) and bring them to justice.
“We are carrying out regular patrols for Operation Oarlock to make sure your streets are safer. If you see us out and about, don’t hesitate to come and say hello. We’d be happy to tell you more about the project and listen to any concerns you might have.
“If you’re not yet joined our new community messaging platform Herts Connected, now’s a great time. We’ll be keeping you updated with all the latest news about the Safer Streets project. Make sure to sign up at Herts connected.”
