A woman caught trying car door handles in Harpenden on Sunday (13 May) has been given six weeks’ imprisonment.
Chloe Briars, age 26, of Meadow Avenue in Shenley, Radlett was arrested and charged with seven counts of vehicle interference at Hatfield Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Monday) morning.
Briars was seen on CCTV trying door handles in Kingscroft, Longfield Road, Cravells Road in Harpenden and Grosvenor Road in St Albans between 7am and 8am on Sunday morning.
Neighbourhood Policing Officers quickly responded to the reports and arrested Briars in Coldwood Road, Harpenden about 8am and she was subsequently charged with seven offences.
Neighbourhood Sergeant Mark Essam said: “Unfortunately, several cars were insecure. Bank cards, driving licences and several pairs of sunglasses were stolen. She was trying her luck with one car and quickly moved on if it was locked. This is an easily preventable crime - remember to remove any valuables and securely lock your vehicle.”
