Police are appealing for witnesses and information as part of continuing enquiries into an incident in Bushey on Halloween (Thursday 31 October).
The Hertsmere Local Crime Unit have been investigating a report that two 16-year-old girls were approached by a male in Park Avenue at around 7.15pm.
It was reported that male forced an unknown ‘sweet’ into their mouths. One of the girls was also struck to the face.
Both girls became unwell a short time later and were taken to hospital to be checked.
Thankfully, they were later discharged with no serious injuries or concerns.
The male was described at the time of the incident as being white, approximately 6ft tall, of slim build. He was wearing a red and white mask, a black Nike tracksuit and black trainers.
Detective Constable Gemma Haines said: “I understand that this incident has caused concern among the local community. I’d like to reassure people that thorough enquiries are being carried out to establish exactly what happened and how the girls came to be unwell. Forensic tests have been completed and we’re awaiting the results.
“Since the report was made, we’ve conducted house to house enquiries and reviewed any possible CCTV opportunities. We’ve also spoken to potential witnesses.
“To ensure that every possible avenue is explored, we’re extending our appeal and asking anyone else with information to please come forward. Did you see someone in the area matching the description given? Did you capture any CCTV, doorbell or dash cam footage?
“If you can help, please get in touch.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Haines by email.
