Free cybercrime advice sessions in Croxley Green

Hertfordshire Constabulary is offering residents a free cybercrime advice session at Croxley Green library.

The event, organised and delivered by specialist Cyber Protect officers from the Serious Fraud and Cyber Unit, is scheduled for Tuesday 26 November and will run between 10.45am-3.30pm. These sessions are free and provide practical tips for avoiding the most common types of cybercrime. Free tea and biscuits are also provided.

The following talks will be delivered on the day:

• 11:00-12:00 - Scams & Victim Support - Beacon/Fraud Hub
• 12:15-13:15 - Cybercrime & Fraud Prevention - Herts Police
• 13:30-14:30 - Rogue Traders & Scams - Trading Standards
• 14:30-14:45 - Fraud against the Council – Herts County Council’s Fraud Team

The session is part of a series of events that the team are running around the count. Further details on this event and future ones can be found on the Hertfordshire County Council libraries website.  

Detective Inspector Katy Jackson, from Hertfordshire Constabulary’s Serious Fraud and Cyber Unit said: “There is a growing threat from cybercrime, which has been increasing across the country over recent years. Criminals often prey on the elderly and vulnerable, many of whom would rather talk to crime prevention experts in person, rather than accessing advice online.

“These sessions are completely free, so please come along during the times advertised. Our experts will be able to give you practical crime prevention advice, to help you avoid common scams and recognise new ones.”
