A man has been jailed in connection with an assault outside a pub in Hemel Hempstead which left a man with a broken jaw.
Carl Anthony Williams, aged 33, was jailed for 18 months at Luton Crown Court on Friday 1 November after pleading guilty to GBH (grievous bodily harm).
The incident occurred outside The Jubilee pub, in Queens Square, on Christmas Eve 2022 (correct).
It was reported that Williams, of Box Crescent in Houghton Regis, had a verbal altercation with the victim while in the pub toilets.
As the victim left, he was approached outside by Williams who punched him to the face several times, causing him to fall to the floor. The victim sustained a broken jaw, requiring surgery.
An investigation was launched by the Dacorum Local Crime Unit, leading to Williams being identified as the suspect through CCTV footage. He was arrested and later charged following further enquiries.
Detective Constable Aneta Bekteshi, who led the investigation, said: “The victim’s injuries were so severe that he needed a metal plate inserted into his jaw.
“There is no excuse for violent crime in our community and we’ll always ensure we do everything we can to identify offenders and bring them before the courts.”
