An underage test purchase of knives in Watford was carried out as part of a national knife crime initiative called Sceptre.
The campaign aims to reinforce the message that carrying a knife is illegal and will not help to keep you safe.
Yesterday (Thursday 14 November), four cadets aged between 14 and 17 years old attempted to purchase a knife from 12 shops in the town centre.
Thankfully, all shops passed the test.
Community Safety Unit Sergeant Karl Diggins said: “I’m really pleased that we had a 100% success rate, and the shops took the appropriate steps to either ask the cadets for ID or refused the sale.
“I’d also like to thank the Watford cadets who volunteered their time to help with this operation and hope they enjoyed being able to make a positive contribution to their local community.”
Are you aged between 13 and 18? Do you have an interest in the police, making a contribution to your community, developing new skills and having fun? Then the Hertfordshire Police Cadets could be for you!
