Six new communications operators join a busy Force Communications Room (FCR), where they will be part of a team who respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, webchat and online crime reports around the clock 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Today (Friday 8 November), family and friends attended a graduation ceremony at police headquarters in Welwyn Garden City, where the group were presented with certificates to mark the completion of their intensive training.
The six new recruits come from a variety of different backgrounds including a former dog groomer, a carer, a technical support officer, a customer service worker, a receptionist and someone with recruitment experience in the construction industry.
FCR Digital and Innovation Manager Richard Wilde, said: “I’m delighted to welcome all six of you to the constabulary. You will be the first port of call for people in Hertfordshire at a time of need and I know you’ll do your utmost to support them through whatever situation they are facing. I wish you all the very best as you embark on your new rewarding careers.”
We are currently recruiting for more communications operators with applications short-listed on a weekly basis.
Call handlers work flexibly, including weekends, and evenings/nights, to answer emergency and non-emergency calls and direct resources across the county. The starting salary is £34,329 inclusive of shift allowance, if you work full-time.
You’ll be supported by a friendly team and welcomed, whatever your background.
