A man was arrested in Hemel Hempstead yesterday (Thursday 17 October), as part of continuing efforts to reduce shoplifting offences.
The arrest was made at a retail premises following enquiries around the receiving of suspected stolen goods.
Dacorum Chief Inspector Dave Skarratts said: “Shoplifting is not a victimless crime, and it can have a huge impact on businesses.
“We want to make sure we’re doing all we can to deter offenders. As part of this, we’re not only looking at those who steal items in the first place, but also at those who go on to receive and profit from those goods.
“If you have any information which may assist us, please get in touch. You can do so anonymously via Crimestoppers if you wish.”
This week is Safer Business Action Week, a national initiative to help tackle business and retail crime in local communities.
As part of the initiative, police and partners have been holding action days and visiting local retailers and other businesses to understand more about the issues they are facing on a daily basis. Crime prevention advice has also been given.
