A three-day operation was carried out across East Herts and Broxbourne last week, as part of continuing efforts to tackle vehicle crime.
Officers from Operation Scorpion were joined by colleagues from the Neighbourhood Policing Team, Operational Support Group (OSG), Mobile Scorpion Team (MST) and Road Policing Unit (RPU) to conduct proactive patrols on the road network, both uniformed and plain-clothed.
The Rural Operational Support Team (ROST) were on hand to assist with their drone, while colleagues from intelligence and the Force Control Room also provided support.
PC Kev Jones, from the East Herts Operation Scorpion Team, lead the operation. He said: “The operation was a success, with several teams and resources working together to deter criminality.
“During the times that the operation was in progress, we had no calls regarding vehicles being stolen or interfered with across East Herts and Broxbourne.
“I hope this reassures the community that we are out there and doing everything we can to prevent vehicle crime. I hope it also serves as a warning to those involved in criminal activity.”
During the operation:
Detective Chief Inspector of Tactical Resources Luke Whinnett said: “Officers are working hard day in, day out, to tackle vehicle crime across Hertfordshire, through our specialist vehicle crime group.
“Operations such as this allow us to proactively target hotspot areas, with the support of the countywide resources.”
