A man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault following an incident in North Herts yesterday (Wednesday 22 January).
It was reported that a woman was on a bus travelling from Hitchin to Bedford when she was touched inappropriately.
A man, aged in his 30s, was later arrested and remains in police custody at this time.
The man has additionally been arrested on suspicion of a similar offence which took place on a bus travelling from Bedford to Hitchin on 21 September 2024.
Detective Sergeant Ian Smith, of the North Herts Local Crime Unit, said: “I appreciate this news will be alarming, however we take reports of this nature extremely seriously and an arrest has been made.
“I am also looking to hear from any witnesses who saw either incident, or who have information, which would assist the investigation, I can be contacted by email.
“Anyone who has been the victim of such an offence is urged to report it so action can be taken.”
