Officers investigating thousands of pounds worth of damage done to farmers’ crops and fields in Maple Cross have released a video of several people they would like to identify.
The incident in fields next to Hornhill Road, near to the junction of Links Road, happened last month and caused extensive damage to wheat crops.
The footage, which can be viewed on the Hertfordshire Constabulary YouTube channel (opens in new window), shows several people riding all-terrain vehicles on a public road.
PC Christian Gottmann, from the Rickmansworth Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We have made several enquiries into this incident, and we are now releasing this footage, which was captured by a local resident on their camera phone, in the hope that someone recognises the people or vehicles they are riding.
“We appreciate that the video is not of the highest quality, but we owe it to the farmer affected to explore every avenue available to us. The loss of these crops will have a huge impact on their livelihood and I want to reassure them that we’ll do all we can to identify those responsible.
“One of the vehicles in the video is a distinctive orange colour – do you know anyone who owns one like this?
“Any information, however insignificant it may seem, could be the key to progressing our investigation. If you can help, please get in touch quoting reference 41/11888/25.”
