Hertfordshire Constabulary formally welcomed 12 new recruits to the Force Communications Room (FCR).

They will be part of a team who respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, webchat and online crime reports around the clock 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The new communications operators come from a variety of different backgrounds including an ex-chef, retired police officers, former hospitality workers, a sales administrator, an adolescent practitioner and a product manager in the film industry.

Today (Friday 9 May), family and friends attended a graduation ceremony at police headquarters in Welwyn Garden City, where the group were presented with certificates to mark the completion of their intensive training. One of the graduates was unable to make the ceremony.

Digital and Innovation Manager Richard Wilde, said: “Congratulations on completing your training, I hope you all feel proud of your achievements.

“Working in the FCR is a really rewarding job and you will undoubtedly make a positive impact to the people who need us. You will be supported throughout your career with the constabulary and I wish you the very best as you embark on your FCR journey.”

We are currently recruiting for more communications operators with applications short-listed on a weekly basis.

Communications operators work flexibly, including weekends, and evenings/nights.
