Two people have been charged in connection with an affray in Hatfield town centre.
At around 2.10pm on Sunday (22 February), two groups of people were reportedly involved in an altercation while in possession of weapons in the Asda car park. No injuries have been confirmed.
Officers subsequently carried out an extensive review of CCTV footage and conducted additional evidence-gathering searches of public areas. These investigations resulted in two arrests.
Connor Kara, aged 18 and of Aviation Avenue, Hatfield, and a 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have been charged with affray and possession of a bladed article in a public place. They appeared in court earlier this week and were bailed to locations outside Hertfordshire. They are due to appear in court on Wednesday 25 March and Wednesday 18 March respectively.
Inspector Robert Wilson, from the Welwyn Hatfield Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Despite securing two successful charging decisions, our enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing for anyone with information to please get in touch.
“There may still be several people who saw what happened and are yet to speak to us. Additionally, if you have any dash cam footage then please share it with us as it may help progress the investigation.
“I would also like to remind members of the public that this case is now active, and I urge against any online speculation as this may impact court proceedings. If you have any information, please share it with us. I can be emailed directly.”
