Key questions and answers for those thinking of applying to become a member of police staff.
There are a huge number of roles available within the Force. Some posts are there to ensure the smooth-running of the organisation. These include roles in areas like finance, human resources, organisational development, facilities management, IT, and public relations. There are also posts specific to police work, including communications operators, scenes of crime officers, crime analysts, and fingerprint officers.
We occasionally advertise part time posts, so please see current vacancies. We also welcome applicants interested in job sharing, where posts are suitable. If you're interested in applying for a full-time vacancy as part of a job share, then you should indicate this on your application form.
On occasion, we will have administrative vacancies within the Scientific Services department. We may also have openings for scene of crime officers and laboratory staff.
There are plenty of roles within the Force with a structured career progression scheme in place; such as communications operators and fingerprint officers. We employ over 1000 police staff, so there's no shortage of opportunities to progress in your chosen field, or to try something completely different.
