The priorities for May to August are as follows:
• Road safety in Royston Urban and Rural. An increased focus on speeding, mobile phone usage, and seatbelts is to be launched. Target locations identified in the urban area are Baldock Road and Newmarket Road, while in the rural area we will focus on Newnham Way in Ashwell.
• Fly-tipping in Royston Rural. Continued work to address this issue with the support of landowners and businesses will be further enhanced to help improve timely reporting of incidents, increase intelligence and prevent offences as well as help target offenders.
Issued 18 May 2026
Officers have conducted road safety operations in Royston Urban and Rural focusing on speeding, mobile phone use and seatbelt offences. They have undertaken activity on Baldock Road, Newmarket Road and Newnham Way. Words of advice have been given and enforcement where offences were identified.
Fly-tipping remains a focus with officers having increased patrols of known fly-tip areas. They work with landowners, businesses and partner agencies to identify issues and improve reporting mechanisms.
Targeted patrols are also in place for areas affected by ASB vehicle use in Royston Rural. Off road bike riders are spoken to and action taken where necessary.
