The FIFA World Cup 2026™ tournament kicks off on 11 June 2026 as one of the three hosts, Mexico, face South Africa. The other two game hosts are Canada and America.
The tournament is split between three countries for the first time ever and the number of countries taking part has been extended from 32 to 48.
The matches will be jointly spread across 16 cities in the three countries, with eleven cities in the US, three in Mexico and two in Canada. As the hosts, all three countries are also taking part in the tournament.
Locations of games:
The tournament runs until 19 July 2026, where the final will be contested at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Scotland are in Group C along with Brazil, Haiti and Morocco and the dates of the Scotland matches during the tournament are:
If Scotland are group winners...
That could be Netherlands, Japan, Sweden, or Tunisia.
If Scotland are group runners-up...
That could be Netherlands, Japan, Sweden, or Tunisia.
If Scotland finish third in their group...
This could also take Scotland all the way but because of the complicated way the third-placed qualification works, there are too many potential routes - which won't be finalised until the end of the group stages - to take into account at this point.
