Your area is policed by the local Safer Neighbourhood Team. They are based nearby at a police station within the borough or district and they work to prevent crime and anti-social behaviour in this area. They also conduct regular patrols and hold surgeries to share crime prevention advice and respond to issues or concerns. They work to solve underlying problems that cause crime and anti-social behaviour.
Other units also work in this area, responding to emergency calls and investigating crimes such as burglary. You can make an appointment to see someone from the Safer Neighbourhood Team by calling 101 or via the contact us tab. If it is an emergency, you should always call 999.
It was agreed at the last priority setting forum to tackle begging and associated anti-social behaviour, street drinking, drug dealing and substance misuse in the Durham Road, York Road, Ripon Road and surrounding streets of St Nicholas. We have received an increase in reports of substance misuse and drug dealing.

We are working to tackle this issue by identifying individuals involved, making arrests and using powers under the Misuse of Drugs Act, public order, crime and policing acts. Work continues with partner agencies under Operation Urban to identify those who are vulnerable or genuinely homeless and offer support to them and protect them from drug dealers who may be targeting them.
It was agreed at the last priority setting meeting that tackling vehicle-related nuisance behaviour would remain a priority for the Stevenage North Neighbourhood Policing Team. While a lot of work has been done, work has continued to tackle nuisance driving on Martins Way, Gunnelswood Road, Wedgewood Way, Wisden Road, Grace Way, Scarborough Avenue, Sish Lane, Canterbury Way and Clovelly Way. This work now also includes the Old Town High Street area, particularly in the evenings and weekends.
