ASB, drug related crime and theft.
Issued 01 May 2025
Whilst work in this area has reduced, reports of substance misuse, drug dealing and associated ASB continues to be an issue and remains a priority for the team.
Thefts from shops, individuals openly drug dealing, using drugs and associated ASB are still being reported and although we have identified and arrested some of the individuals responsible, more targeted work is required utilising our powers under the misuse of drugs act, public order, crime and policing acts.
Work also continues with partner agencies under Operation URBAN across Stevenage, to identify and support those who are committing crime to support an addiction or are being exploited by drug dealers.
These interventions are proving successful, but we will continue to carry out high visible patrols and work with partner agencies and businesses to reduce these issues.

Vehicle-related nuisance behaviour (such as anti-social driving and speeding).
Issued 01 May 2025
Feedback on social media and through Herts Connected surveys continues to suggest that speeding is a concern, particularly on the main throughfares within Stevenage.
We continue to receive many positive comments for ongoing work around this priority with excellent results and prosecutions.
We will continue to use of the PCC speed vans and carry out operations using Automatic Number Plate Recognition. We are now also focusing more on the use of E-scooters and motorcycle related ASB, not just in this area, but across Stevenage. We now have equipment and newly trained officers to work on this priority more.
Regular speed enforcement patrols have also been conducted in this area and numerous traffic offence reports have been issued and drivers reported for speeding. This activity is also ongoing.
